Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Lyoto Machida!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for McOut with that takedown attempt.
McOut looks to throw the jab but Machida is out of range.
McOut misses with a low kick.
Machida displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McOut throws out the jab.
Machida ducks under a wild hook from McOut.
Machida is looking to clinch but McOut is avoiding it.
McOut looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
McOut trying to control but Machida is working from the bottom.
McOut stands and throws Machida's legs to the side, diving into side control.
McOut misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Machida can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The strikes coming from McOut are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
McOut wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Machida, who protects the arm well.
McOut tries for a kimura but Machida is defending well.
McOut is breathing heavily.
McOut creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Machida sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
McOut has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Machida tries to improve position but can't.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Machida throws a nice head kick!

McOut changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Machida tries to avoid it but McOut manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Machida to the ground. Machida escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
McOut misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Machida.

McOut shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

McOut tries to pass to full mount but Machida defends it.
Machida tries to roll over but McOut keeps him under control.
Machida is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of McOut's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take McOut's back!
Machida has the hooks in. McOut is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Machida has good solid back control here.
McOut is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Machida scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. McOut is looking for a way out.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Machida's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
McOut breaks Machida's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Machida is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

A close round but Lyoto Machida will probably get the nod.

Machida throws a push kick but McOut slaps the foot to one side.

and McOut takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

and Machida counters with a straight right hand.
McOut closes the distance but Machida moves to the side
and Machida counters by moving into the clinch.
Machida will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning McOut up against the cage.

McOut goes for a takedown in the clinch but Machida prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tappy McOut. That's going to take a lot out of him.

McOut is trying to drag Machida to the mat but Machida just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Machida keeps control of McOut as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A frustrated look appears on McOut's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Machida is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Lyoto Machida.
McOut throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McOut takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Machida is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
A head kick by McOut misses
and Machida counters with a nice uppercut.
Machida feints and then cracks McOut's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow McOut down.
Tappy McOut seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McOut gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
letting Machida counter with a right hand.
McOut doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Machida counters with a series of strikes. McOut will be more careful next time no doubt.
McOut on the wrong end of a nice jab.
McOut fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Machida sprawls well initially but McOut persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
McOut is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Machida defends it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McOut tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Machida.

Lyoto Machida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Machida slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Machida's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Machida seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but McOut does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
