Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Austin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matty Ganns!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ganns stuffs the takedown attempt from Austin. Austin gets slowly back to his feet.
Austin closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ganns circles away.
Steve Austin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
No joy there for Austin, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Austin has had enough of the clinch but Ganns keeps him there for the moment.

Ganns moves out of range as Austin throws a body kick.

Austin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ganns as he jumps to the side.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ganns wants to sweep but no luck.
Ganns keeping moving, preventing Austin from controlling successfully.
Austin not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Ganns gets caught flat footed, as Austin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Austin is breathing heavily.
Ganns wants to stand up but Austin is controlling him.
Ganns wants to sweep here but Austin controlling him for the moment.
Austin wants to get up but he can't break Ganns's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Ganns doesn't succeed with the takedown

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
and Austin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ganns tries to roll over but Austin keeps him under control.
Ganns is trying is best to control the position here.
Let's hope that Ganns has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ganns won't allow Austin to pass to mount.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

and Ganns counters by moving into the clinch.
Ganns drops down looking for an ankle pick but Austin pulls his leg out and moves away.
Austin shoots for a double leg takedown but Ganns sprawls well. He's pushed Austin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Austin shoots in and drives through. Ganns sprawls well.

Austin wants to control from the top but Ganns keeps moving.
Ganns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Ganns looking to hit a scissor sweep but Austin is one step ahead there.
Austin wants to control from the top but Ganns keeps moving.
Austin looking to sit in guard and control but Ganns gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Austin dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Austin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Ganns tries to close the distance and clinch but Austin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ganns scores with a head kick.


It looks like Steve Austin has been cut.
Ganns has his takedown stuffed
letting Austin counter with a right hand.

and Austin counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Austin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Ganns as he jumps to the side.

Austin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Austin trying to control the action but Ganns is working from the bottom.
Ganns wants to control but Austin postures up.
Ganns pushes Austin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Austin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Steve Austin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Ganns trying to control but Austin postures up.
Ganns is looking for a sweep. Austin is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

and Ganns counters with a nice uppercut.

Matty Ganns has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Ganns dives in and grabs Austin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Austin pushes down on Ganns's head and hops out.

Ganns manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Austin manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Steve Austin is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ganns accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

I would just about give that final round to Matty Ganns.
I think Austin has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
