Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Phil Langlais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaje Kares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gaje Kares will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Phil Langlais!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaje Kares!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Langlais fails with a takedown attempt.
Kares shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Langlais counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Langlais.
Langlais gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Kares.

Kares manages to break the clinch.

Kares shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Kares not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Kares throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Kares looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Langlais looking for submissions off his back.
Langlais is breathing heavily.

Langlais moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kares trying to stand up but can't free himself from Langlais's guard.

Langlais is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kares is aware though and is defending well.

Langlais looking for a guillotine here but Kares defends easily.
Kares with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Kares works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Kares passes to side control.
Langlais tries to improve position but can't.

Kares looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Kares wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Langlais, who protects the arm well.
Langlais is trying to work for a sweep but Kares has mounted him!

Langlais is trying to escape the mount.
Kares lands a heavy elbow.
Langlais tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The referee warns Langlais that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Langlais is desperately trying to improve his position but Kares has a good base and remains in mount.
Kares has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Langlais's face.

Kares lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Langlais keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Langlais wants to clinch up but Kares keeps it at a distance.

Langlais wants to control but Kares is keeping him busy.
Kares tries to strike but it doesn't land.
Kares manages to get back to half guard.
Kares is looking to control Langlais's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kares avoid being mounted?

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Langlais seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kares does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Langlais gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kares to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Langlais throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Kares drops back looking for a leg! Langlais is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Langlais manages to kick Kares off! Kares jumps back into Langlais's guard.

Kares postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Langlais escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kares gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kares throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Langlais works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Kares works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Langlais is trying to get back to full guard.
Kares missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Langlais keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Langlais tries to roll over but Kares keeps him under control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Langlais closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Kares wants to improve his position but Langlais is controlling well.
Langlais wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kares keeps working.
Langlais thows a huge punch but Kares dodges it nicely.

Kares is not content to let Langlais control the position.
Langlais blocks the strikes from Kares.
Kares gets full guard.
Kares is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Gaje Kares has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Langlais shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kares's guard.

Langlais drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kares looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kares looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kares!
Langlais takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Phil Langlais dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!



Langlais shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Langlais showed some decent athleticism there.
Kares tries to roll over but Langlais keeps him under control.
Kares tries to kick Langlais off but Langlais keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Kares gets full guard.
Kares managing to control the position.
Langlais trying to control but Kares is working from the bottom.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kares moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Langlais.
Langlais tries to bench press Kares off him but Kares keeps the position.
Langlais takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Langlais tries to buck Kares off but Kares is having none of it.

You can see the frustration on Langlais's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Langlais tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kares wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Kares grinds an elbow into Langlais's temple.

Langlais is looking for a sweep.

Kares working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Langlais shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Kares manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Kares is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Langlais trying to control the position from guard on top but Kares is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Langlais preventing the sweep.
Kares keeping moving, preventing Langlais from controlling successfully.
Kares avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Kares doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Langlais gets to his feet - Kares follows without any prompting.
Kares throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Langlais shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kares keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Langlais working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.

Phil Langlais showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Langlais has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
