Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Herbert West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexandr Boev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boev has chosen Hatebreed - Destroy everything as his entrance music. Herbert West has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Herbert West!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexandr Boev!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Vladimir Khabensky and Viktor Lagutenko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
West fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
A head kick misses from Boev.
Some wild striking there from Boev.
Boev tries to clinch but West is having none of it.

Boev clinches up against the cage.
West has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Boev pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
West avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Boev tries to close the distance and clinch but West swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
West fails to land with a series of punches.
A thudding body kick lands there by Boev!
West is breathing heavily.
Boev misses with a double jab.

Boev fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. West sprawls well initially but Boev persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

It looks like Alexandr Boev has been cut.

Boev jumps guard but West stands there with Boev around his waist. Boev gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Boev working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. West doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. West manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
West wants to control from the top but Boev keeps moving.
West will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Boev wants to sweep here but West controlling him for the moment.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Boev really doesn't want to stay on the ground with West. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee warns Boev that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, West cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

West has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Boev's face.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
West lands a big elbow.
Boev takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

That was a close round but I would say that Herbert West will probably get the nod.

West pushes Boev off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

West creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Boev sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
