Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Newman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mathew Briar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briar throws a body punch but Newman moves out of range.
Briar lands a nice shot to the body.
Briar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Newman's hands.
Briar should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Briar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Newman slips a jab and a cross from Briar.
Mathew Briar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Briar is looking to score with low kicks.

Newman bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Newman is stalling here. Briar is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Newman seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Briar has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Briar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Newman is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Briar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Briar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Briar is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Newman to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Newman shrugs it off.

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
