Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Konstantin Gluhov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Konstantin Gluhov is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gluhov keeps the fight on the outside.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gluhov, as that shot connected.

It looks like Rob Mendez has been cut.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Mendez.
Mendez tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Gluhov swivels and escapes.
Jab, jab by Mendez - just one landing.
Mendez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Gluhov defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rob Mendez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gluhov throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mendez on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Mendez dodges the punch combination from Gluhov.

Mendez throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gluhov was covering up waiting for the punch and Mendez finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Mendez is breathing heavily.
Gluhov wants to stand and escape but Mendez is having none of it.

Gluhov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Gluhov is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Mendez wants to control from the top but Gluhov keeps moving.
Gluhov can't keep his opponent in guard - Mendez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gluhov wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendez is controlling the pace.

Mendez is working for a kimura but Gluhov is defending it quite comfortably.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Mendez is looking to take a break and control but Gluhov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Mendez looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Mendez throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Mendez is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mendez takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Rob Mendez's cut is getting worse.
Gluhov takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Konstantin Gluhov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Gluhov throws a right and a left that Mendez avoids nicely.
Gluhov keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Mendez blocks a head kick by Gluhov.
Mendez shoots in looking for a takedown. Gluhov tries to sprawl out of it but Mendez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Gluhov manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Mendez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Gluhov but Gluhov pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mendez shoots in for a takedown but Gluhov shows good takedown defense.
Mendez tries to score a power double leg takedown but Gluhov sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Mendez somewhat.
Gluhov uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Mendez.
Gluhov misses with a few strikes there.
A left and a right from Gluhov both land. Nice combination.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A head kick from Gluhov lands but Mendez takes it in his stride.

Rob Mendez's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Mendez dives in and grabs Gluhov's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gluhov pushes down on Mendez's head and hops out.

Mendez takes the fight into the clinch.

Gluhov breaks the clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Gluhov misses with a double jab.
Mendez fails to land the takedown.
Mendez misses with a looping left.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gluhov lands a left and a right that send Mendez crashing to the mat, dazed. Gluhov thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Mendez throws a series of punches but Gluhov moves out of range.
Gluhov throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gluhov lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mendez backs up against the cage.

Jeez, Rob Mendez's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Rob Mendez's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
