PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Marko Haaranen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patrick Davis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patrick Davis told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Patrick Davis!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Haaranen tries to score a power double leg takedown but Davis sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Haaranen somewhat.

Davis instigates a clinch.
Davis tries for a takedown but Haaranen manages to get underhooks.

Davis escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Haaranen closes the distance and clinches up with Davis, looking for a takedown. Haaranen pushes Davis against the cage but Davis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Haaranen fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Haaranen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Davis is just riding it out for now. Haaranen eventually gives up the hold.

Davis wants to get back to his feet but Haaranen is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Haaranen drops back looking for a leg! Davis is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Davis manages to kick Haaranen off! Haaranen jumps back into Davis's guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Haaranen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Davis's head.

Haaranen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Davis has managed to free his arm - good work.

Haaranen is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Davis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Haaranen.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Haaranen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Davis tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Haaranen!
