Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jordan Thickstun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Guinness (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jordan Thickstun!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Richard Guinness!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Thickstun gets a takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Thickstun seems content to control.

Thickstun is working for a kimura but Guinness is defending it quite comfortably.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Thickstun passes to full mount!
Thickstun misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Thickstun looking to control but Guinness is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Thickstun is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Guinness has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Thickstun looking to control and managing it successfully.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Guinness can do anything to dispel that myth.
Thickstun wants to take Guinness's back here but Guinness is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Thickstun thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Guinness is squirming around, avoiding Thickstun's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Guinness is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Thickstun trying to control but Guinness is having none of it.
Thickstun controlling the position easily from mount.

Thickstun moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Guinness has worked his arm free - good work by Guinness!
Thickstun is breathing heavily.

Guinness is not content to let Thickstun control the position.
Guinness prevents Thickstun from moving into mount.
Thickstun wants to lay and pray for a moment but Guinness keeps working.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jordan Thickstun just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Thickstun closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Guinness to the mat! Guinness manages to get full guard.

Thickstun trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Guinness tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Guinness wants to stand and escape but Thickstun is having none of it.

Guinness throws a head kick but Thickstun moves out of range.
Guinness keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Thickstun throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Thickstun shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Guinness as he jumps to the side.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Guinness leaves Thickstun with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Guinness throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Thickstun's waist but Thickstun gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Guinness off to one side.

Guinness stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Guinness wants it to stay on the feet.

Thickstun tries to keep at a distance but Guinness has taken the fight into the clinch.
Thickstun goes for a takedown attempt but Guinness pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Guinness swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Guinness stuffs the takedown.
Guinness goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Guinness fails with an attempt to clinch.
Thickstun shoots in but no luck this time.
Guinness shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Thickstun but Thickstun pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Thickstun checks the leg kick.
Thickstun tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Guinness swivels and escapes.
Guinness shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Thickstun as he jumps to the side.

Guinness gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Thickstun to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Guinness striking off his back but it's not causing Thickstun any problems.

Thickstun won't allow Guinness to get back to his feet.
Guinness has momentary wrist control but Thickstun slips an elbow through the middle.
Thickstun won't allow Guinness to get back to his feet.
Thickstun loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Thickstun's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Guinness wants to sweep here but Thickstun controlling him for the moment.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Thickstun fails with a takedown attempt.
Guinness lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Thickstun is defended easily by Guinness.

Guinness darts in and clinches Thickstun up against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Thickstun drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Thickstun has Guinness pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Guinness manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard Guinness showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Guinness looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Thickstun is fending him off so far but Guinness persists. Nope, Thickstun circles away and we're back to standing.
Guinness pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Thickstun is defended easily by Guinness.

Guinness keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Thickstun scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Thickstun wants to control but Guinness is keeping him busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Guinness isn't going anywhere.
Guinness is not content to let Thickstun control the position.
The referee asks Thickstun politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Thickstun prefers to stall for the moment though.

Thickstun seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Guinness for as long as he can get away with.

Thickstun stands up and beckons Guinness to his feet.

Guinness throws a right and a left that both miss.
Guinness connects with a nice looking jab.
Jordan Thickstun is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Guinness tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Thickstun was well out of range. Poor timing from Guinness.
Richard Guinness seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Guinness fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Thickstun shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Guinness's guard.
Thickstun wants to control from the top but Guinness keeps moving.
Thickstun pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Guinness is keeping the position for now.

Guinness is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Thickstun is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Thickstun drops back looking for a leg! Guinness is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Guinness manages to kick Thickstun off! Thickstun jumps back into Guinness's guard.
Thickstun controls from within his opponent's guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jordan Thickstun showed his dominance in that final round.
