Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marshal Van Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alex Martin!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Skip Squint and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Excellent takedown into side control there by Martin.
Martin looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Van Black is trying to improve his position.
Martin controls the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Van Black knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Martin on the ground.

Martin bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Martin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Van Black keeps working.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

and Martin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Martin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Martin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Van Black, up you get!

and Van Black counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Martin's guard now.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Van Black fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Martin sprawls well initially but Van Black persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Martin makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Van Black pushes Martin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Martin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Van Black feints and as Martin raises his hands in defense, Van Black changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marshal Van Black. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Marshal Van Black will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Van Black closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Van Black lands in his opponent's guard.

Van Black bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Martin's guard.

Martin stands and throws Van Black's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Martin is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Van Black looks calm but he's in trouble here. Martin gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Van Black is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Martin lets go of the hold and Van Black can pop his arm back in it's socket.
