The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Akiyama bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Wayne misses with a series of wild punches.
Horrible takedown by Akiyama or perhaps it was just good defense by Wayne which made him look bad.
Akiyama looks for a takedown but Wayne sprawls well.
A combination from Akiyama does no damage.
A looping hook to the body misses from Wayne. Akiyama does a little dance to reset his feet.
Akiyama fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jon Wayne has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yoshihiro Akiyama.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Akiyama ducks under a wild hook from Wayne.
Wayne throws a hook to the side of Akiyama's head but Akiyama sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Nice defenses there by Akiyama.
Wayne slaps away a takedown attempt from Akiyama, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Akiyama looks gassed!
Wayne lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

It looks like Yoshihiro Akiyama has been cut.
Akiyama fails with the takedown.
Yoshihiro Akiyama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wayne drops Akiyama with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Akiyama looks back up at him and smiles so Wayne waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Wayne darts in and lands a big hook, right on the button! Akiyama's legs crumble underneath him as he falls to the canvas! The ref tackles Wayne before he gets to land any more shots to his stricken foe.
