The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balls throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around McAwis's waist but McAwis gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Balls off to one side.
McAwis keeps the fight on the outside.
Balls fails to land with a series of punches.
McAwis checks a leg kick.
Balls misses with a jab, cross combination.
Balls tries to clinch there but McAwis circles away.
Fergie Balls seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

McAwis gets caught flat footed, as Balls shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Balls changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. McAwis looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
McAwis is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Balls is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

McAwis bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

McAwis drops back looking for a leg! Balls is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Balls manages to kick McAwis off! McAwis jumps back into Balls's guard.

McAwis goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Balls has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for McAwis but great work by Balls.
McAwis manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
