PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ergo Triw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Zieniek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Triw comes to the cage accompanied by Rammstein - Mutter. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Zieniek!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zieniek avoids a kick to the body.
No joy there for Triw, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Zieniek takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Triw tries to clinch but Zieniek is having none of it.

Zieniek clinches up with Triw and pushes him back against the cage.
Zieniek is leaning against Triw and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.

Zieniek successfully pulls guard.
Triw trying to control the position from guard on top but Zieniek is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Zieniek is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
Triw with an attempt at a knee that misses.

Triw gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Zieniek keeping hold of Triw's head, controlling as best he can.
Triw is tying to control. Zieniek wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Triw is thwarting Zieniek's attempts to control the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Zieniek is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A slapping leg kick lands for Triw.

Zieniek has closed the distance and engaged Triw in a clinch.

Triw wants to control but Zieniek is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Zieniek is pressing down on Triw's thigh, looking to free his foot. Triw is holding on for now.

Zieniek decides to stand up.
Ergo Triw seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Triw shoots in for a takedown but Zieniek shows good takedown defense.
Triw misses with a head kick.
Triw throws a lazy right hand but Zieniek sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
A punch combination from Zieniek misses.
Zieniek takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Triw tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Zieniek swivels and escapes.
Triw throws a leg kick but Zieniek moved away.

Zieniek decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Zieniek wants to work for an arm triangle but Triw is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Zieniek looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Triw is controlling Zieniek's position as best he can from this difficult position.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Triw is looking to control Zieniek's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Triw avoid being mounted?
Zieniek moves into full mount! Triw won't be happy about that!

Zieniek lands a nice shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Zieniek gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Triw counters with a slapping leg kick.
Nice jab there from Triw.
Triw pushes Zieniek away with a front kick.
Zieniek shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Triw as he jumps to the side.
Triw throws a leg kick which misses Zieniek's front leg but catches the back leg as Zieniek tries to avoid it.

Triw looks to clinch

and Zieniek counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Triw!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Triw tries to hold on but Zieniek pushes him away.
Zieniek with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Zieniek sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Zieniek's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Triw is wriggling around trying to escape.

Zieniek stands up from mount. Strange move.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Zieniek lands a jab-cross combination.


It looks like Ergo Triw has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Triw closes the distance looking to clinch

and Zieniek counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.


Triw is rocked!
Michael Zieniek has got the better of the ground game so far.
Triw is trying to keep Zieniek in close.
Zieniek slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Let's hope that Zieniek has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Zieniek tries to free his leg and advance position but Triw is retaining full guard.

Despite being in the dominant position, Michael Zieniek just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Triw closes the distance looking to clinch

and Zieniek counters with a nice double leg into side control. Triw won't be happy with that.

Zieniek lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Triw down.
Zieniek creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Zieniek takes a little break here. Triw wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Zieniek decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Triw buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Triw scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Triw thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Zieniek is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Triw off and has taken his back!
Zieniek lands strikes to the head.
Zieniek has the hooks in. Triw is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Zieniek lands shots from the back.
Triw wants to escape the position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Zieniek scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Triw is looking for a way out.

Triw is having to fend off submission attempts from Zieniek, who is looking to sink in the choke. Zieniek doesn't have the hooks in though and Triw manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Zieniek showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Ergo Triw's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Triw closes the distance but Zieniek moves to the side
and Zieniek counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Triw misses with a takedown

and Zieniek counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Triw's guard now.

Zieniek controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Zieniek gets to his feet. Triw looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Zieniek manages to pull guard.
Triw being controlled here momentarily.
Zieniek is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Triw tries to roll over but Zieniek keeps him under control.
Triw tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Triw is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Zieniek's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Zieniek's back!
Triw is not going to allow Zieniek to sit and survive in this position.
Zieniek prevents Triw from getting a body triangle.

Zieniek rolls, trying to escape but Triw keeps control of the position.
Triw is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Zieniek up.
Zieniek just trying to survive but Triw is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Zieniek is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Zieniek works over Triw's head and body with a nice combination.

Zieniek moves into the clinch successfully.
Triw trying to stall but Zieniek improves his position.
Zieniek lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Triw backwards.
Triw cracks Zieniek with a nice body shot.
Triw wants to break free but Zieniek has control.
Triw has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Zieniek avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Triw tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Zieniek just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ergo Triw. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Zieniek has his feet on Triw's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Triw's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Triw tries to hold on but Zieniek postures up.
Ergo Triw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Zieniek lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Zieniek is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Triw is surviving well by controlling Zieniek's body position as best he can.

And that's the end of the fight!
Michael Zieniek comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Zieniek winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
