Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Martyn Lawrence (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikky Abby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Abby looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Abby wants to stand up but Lawrence is controlling the position.

Lawrence is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Abby pulls his head out easily.

Lawrence moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Abby trying to control but Lawrence is working from the bottom.
Abby wanted to stand there but Lawrence had control of the position.

Lawrence looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Lawrence working for submissions but it's allowed Abby to get to half guard.
Lawrence moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Abby tries to stand but Lawrence is controlling from the bottom.

Lawrence is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Abby got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lawrence has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Abby has managed to get both his arms back between Lawrence's legs - danger averted.
Abby would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Lawrence looking to hit a scissor sweep but Abby is one step ahead there.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Lawrence is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Abby defends well.
Abby slips nicely into half guard.

Abby stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Abby tries to clinch up but Lawrence circles away and keeps his distance.
Abby moves in looking to clinch but Lawrence pushes him off.

Lawrence has managed to clinch.
Abby creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Abby jumps guard and drags Lawrence to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Lawrence drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lawrence jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Abby keeping moving, preventing Lawrence from controlling successfully.
Abby really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lawrence. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Abby is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lawrence drops back looking for a leg! Abby is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Abby manages to kick Lawrence off! Lawrence jumps back into Abby's guard.

Lawrence drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Lawrence as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Abby screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Lawrence! Nice submission victory there!
