PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jikko Teodoro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Cordero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eli Cordero told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Tatsuya Matsuyama.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teodoro on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Cordero works the jab nicely.
Cordero tries to bum rush Teodoro with a series of wild strikes but Teodoro uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Cordero lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Cordero.
Teodoro tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cordero swats away the attempt to clinch by Teodoro.
Teodoro tries to clinch but Cordero is having none of it.
Cordero cracks Teodoro with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Cordero circles away from the clinch attempt.
Teodoro doesn't manage to clinch there - Cordero circles away.
Teodoro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Cordero paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Teodoro takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Cordero stalks Teodoro and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Teodoro's face. Teodoro staggers backwards, shaken.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Teodoro tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Cordero throws a series of punches but Teodoro moves out of range.
Teodoro misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Teodoro shoots in for a takedown but Cordero shows good takedown defense.
Teodoro walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It looks like Jikko Teodoro has been cut.
Cordero throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Teodoro on the side of the head.
Teodoro is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Cordero scores with a nice head shot.
Cordero keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jikko Teodoro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Teodoro is breathing heavily.
Cordero avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Cordero feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Teodoro sprawling to the canvas! Teodoro rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Cordero finish him?!

Teodoro is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Oh Teodoro is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Cordero has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.

Cordero drops Teodoro with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Teodoro looks back up at him and smiles so Cordero waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.
Eli Cordero is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Cordero cracks Teodoro with a hook to the temple - Teodoro is on wobbly legs here! Cordero swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Teodoro falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Cordero wins by TKO!
