PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Manny Cavalera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Allan Von Reinar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Von Reinar comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Iron Maiden - Fear of the dark kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Manny Cavalera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Allan Von Reinar!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Von Reinar ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

It looks like Manny Cavalera has been cut.
Von Reinar tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cavalera swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Von Reinar throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cavalera blocks it with crossed arms.

It looks like Allan Von Reinar has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Von Reinar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Von Reinar tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cavalera's legs.
Von Reinar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cavalera keeps working.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Von Reinar thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Manny Cavalera will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Von Reinar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Von Reinar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Cavalera is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cavalera is not content to let Von Reinar control the position.
Allan Von Reinar has got the better of the ground game so far.

Von Reinar takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Von Reinar in side control, throwing shots but Cavalera defends.
Cavalera wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Von Reinar remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Von Reinar is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cavalera knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Von Reinar is working to tighten is grip on Cavalera's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Cavalera has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Von Reinar is really squeezing tight and eventually Cavalera passes out! Von Reinar breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
