PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Janne Marttila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harjan Varsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Marttila might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Blue moon. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Ren Mimura and Shigeki Sano.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Varsi thows a body shot but no joy.
Nice uppercut there from Varsi.
Marttila shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Varsi as he jumps to the side.
Varsi throws a nice looking combination but Marttila bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Marttila has closed the distance and engaged Varsi in a clinch.

Varsi is fighting off a takedown attempt but Marttila is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Varsi to the mat. Varsi regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Varsi controls Marttila momentarily but Marttila frees himself.
Varsi has Marttila pulled in close to control his posture.

Marttila is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Varsi is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Varsi has escaped and now he's on top!

Marttila escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Varsi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Marttila escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Varsi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Despite being in the dominant position, Harjan Varsi just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Varsi tries to land a front kick but Marttila steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Marttila shoots in but no luck this time.
Marttila dodges the punch combination from Varsi.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Varsi lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Marttila can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Varsi and Marttila drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Varsi.
