PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rutherford Haze (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cal Tennant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Richard Clark and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tennant shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Haze avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tennant.
Haze is in trouble now - Tennant has advanced to mount!
Tennant punching from mount but Haze doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Tennant trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Tennant fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Tennant thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Haze sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Tennant trying to control from half guard but Haze is working away.
Tennant not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Tennant looks to land a strike but Haze avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Haze not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Tennant is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Tennant looking to sit in guard and control but Haze gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Tennant working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Haze doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Haze manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Tennant is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Haze trying to control the position from guard on top but Tennant is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Haze slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Tennant tries to buck Haze off but Haze is having none of it.

Haze stands up.
Haze tests Tennant's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Tennant looks gassed!

Tennant misses with a series of wild punches.
Haze tries a low kick but Tennant avoids it.
Tennant will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Haze changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Tennant takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Haze stuns Tennant with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
A nice combination there by Haze.

Tennant is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Haze cracks Tennant with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Tennant tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Haze pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Tennant is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
