PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rolf Spicer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Schwarzeneg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Spicer comes to the cage accompanied by Sepultura - Roots Bloody Roots. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 14 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rolf Spicer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 10 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roger Schwarzeneg!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Schwarzeneg.
Schwarzeneg throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Spicer seems a little lost for a moment, as Schwarzeneg dominates the positioning.
Schwarzeneg misses with an attempted head punch from side control.

Schwarzeneg decides to stand back up. Schwarzeneg steps back and let's Spicer get back to his feet.
Spicer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Schwarzeneg can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Spicer is looking to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Schwarzeneg feints and as Spicer raises his hands in defense, Schwarzeneg changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Schwarzeneg is stalling here. Spicer is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Schwarzeneg seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Spicer has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schwarzeneg can do anything to dispel that myth.

Roger Schwarzeneg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Schwarzeneg goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Spicer has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Schwarzeneg but great work by Spicer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Schwarzeneg parries the strikes from Spicer easily there. Spicer is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Schwarzeneg to escape.
Roger Schwarzeneg has got the better of the ground game so far.

Schwarzeneg escapes and gets back to his feet.
Spicer shoots in but no luck this time.
Schwarzeneg lands with a kick to the temple. Spicer shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Schwarzeneg connects with a nice short shot to Spicer's temple.

Schwarzeneg uses his free foot to push down on Spicer's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Spicer.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Schwarzeneg cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Roger Schwarzeneg comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Schwarzeneg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
