PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacoby Wilcox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenzo Nakata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wilcox comes to the cage accompanied by Danger: Wildman. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jacoby Wilcox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Kenzo Nakata!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilcox lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Nakata looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Wilcox looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wilcox seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nakata does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Wilcox is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Nakata defends it well.
Nakata is trying to maintain the position but Wilcox is very close to passing his half guard.
Wilcox trying to control the action but Nakata is working from the bottom.
Nakata is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilcox stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Nakata swivels though and keeps the full guard.

No joy there for Wilcox, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Nakata uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wilcox.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Wilcox misses the jab.
Nakata displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Wilcox throws out the jab.

Wilcox is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Nakata's half guard.
Nakata regains full guard. Nicely done.
Nakata tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Wilcox dips to his left and cracks Nakata with an uppercut!

Wilcox throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nakata.
