PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bill Bradski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is RENEGADE MASTER. Bradski comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ikaruga kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Fighter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bill Bradski!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bradski misses with a few strikes there.
Bradski takes a swing at Fighter's ribcage but misses.
Bradski misses with a series of wild punches.

Bradski gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Fighter to score an easy takedown into full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fighter accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fighter being controlled here momentarily.
Bradski can't keep his opponent in guard - Fighter advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fighter seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bradski does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Fighter looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fighter wants to take a breather but Bradski is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Fighter is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Fighter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Fighter wants to advance to full mount but Bradski doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Fighter tries to free his leg and advance position but Bradski is retaining full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fighter stops Bradski from standing up.
Bradski can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Fighter controls the pace.
Fighter trying to control the position from guard on top but Bradski is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fighter controls from within his opponent's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Fighter dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fighter tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Bradski swivels and escapes.
Bradski throws the left hand but Fighter avoids the punch easily.
Bradski throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Fighter moves out of range as Bradski strikes.
Fighter shoots in looking for a takedown. Bradski tries to sprawl out of it but Fighter keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Bradski manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Fighter steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Bradski.

Fighter scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Fighter trying to control the action but Bradski is working from the bottom.
Bradski regains half guard there - taking advantage of Fighter's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Steve Fighter just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Fighter defending well as Bradski loads up on a big left hand.

Fighter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bradski manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fighter wants to control from the top but Bradski keeps moving.

Bradski wants to get back to his feet but Fighter is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bradski keeping moving, preventing Fighter from controlling successfully.
Fighter stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bradski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Bradski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Fighter circles away quickly and effectively.

Bill Bradski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bradski stuffs the takedown attempt from Fighter. Fighter gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Fighter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bradski thows a left - swing and a miss!
Fighter fails to land the takedown.
A slow jab from Bradski misses its intended target.
Fighter closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bradski circles away.
Bradski misses with a straight right.
Bradski circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bradski loads up on a big right hand but Fighter slips the punch.

Bradski stuffs the takedown.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fighter rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bradski moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fighter uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Bradski.
Fighter checks a leg kick.

Fighter rushes Bradski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Steve Fighter dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Bradski throws a shot from downtown. Fighter moves away and avoids it.
Bradski stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bradski wants it to stay on the feet.

Fighter pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bradski is keeping the position for now.

Fighter has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bradski can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fighter is trying to control the position but Bradski postures up.
Fighter looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Steve Fighter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Fighter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bradski is one step ahead there.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bradski being controlled here momentarily.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Steve Fighter just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
No joy there for Bradski, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bill Bradski has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Fighter tries to close the distance and clinch up but Bradski swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Steve Fighter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Fighter fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bradski sprawls well initially but Fighter persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fighter in particular looking to stall.
Fighter has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Steve Fighter showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fighter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
