Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Alek Mitchell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Avila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy Avila will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mitchell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Avila manages to avoid it.
Avila defending well as Mitchell loads up on a big left hand.
Avila misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Mitchell throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Mitchell throws a body punch but Avila moves out of range.
Avila thuds his shin into the meat of Mitchell's side.
Mitchell just misses with a punch to the body.
Avila avoids the body shot from Mitchell.
Avila throws the left hand but Mitchell avoids the punch easily.
Mitchell is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Avila.
Avila looks to score with a jab to the body but Mitchell is just out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Avila is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mitchell can't fight it off and eventually Avila manages to take the fight to the floor. Mitchell looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Mitchell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Avila doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Avila manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Avila is keen to just control but Mitchell is a slippery customer.
Mitchell is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Avila's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Avila's back!

I really don't envy Avila right now.

Avila is trying to defend against the choke here but Mitchell has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Mitchell Tightens the hold and Avila taps out furiously! Mitchell displays superior BJJ to win the fight.
