PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between G B (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Hillbilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hillbilly has chosen I Love Country Music (And I'd Rather Fight Than Switch) as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, G B!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Hillbilly!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hillbilly looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
B is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Hillbilly throws a looping overhand right but B ducks down to avoid it.
Hillbilly has a takedown stuffed.

G B seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
B moves in looking to clinch but Hillbilly pushes him off.
Hillbilly gets cracked there but stands up to it.

B uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Hillbilly.

Hillbilly throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Hillbilly misses with a takedown attempt - B sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

G B has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry Hillbilly.

B is looking to control Hillbilly's arms but Hillbilly gets an underhook and turns him. Now B has his back to the cage.

That has opened up Henry Hillbilly's cut even more.
B throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hillbilly blocks it with crossed arms.
Hillbilly is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

B decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hillbilly, up you get!

Hillbilly misses with a hook. B ducked under it nicely.
Hillbilly throws a jab when B was well out of range.
Hillbilly throws a nice looking combination but B bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
B tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hillbilly swats him away and circles back towards the center.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Hillbilly.

B is fighting off a takedown attempt but Hillbilly is just too persistent for him and manages to trip B to the mat. B regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Hillbilly won't allow B to get back to his feet.
B utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Hillbilly drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but B manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hillbilly has B in his guard.

Hillbilly has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but B can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

B decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Hillbilly shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hillbilly jabbing away but nothing is landing.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hillbilly jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as B walks away with a smile on his face. Hillbilly gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
B moves in looking to clinch but Hillbilly pushes him off.
Hillbilly fails to land with a series of punches.
Hillbilly takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hillbilly circles away from the clinch attempt.

B tries to clinch but Hillbilly moves out of range.

Hillbilly thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed B's head.
Hillbilly looks to land a strike but B avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Hillbilly shoots in looking for a takedown. B tries to sprawl out of it but Hillbilly keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. B manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hillbilly has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but B regains guard immediately.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hillbilly tries to kick B off but B keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hillbilly lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
B fails with an attempt to clinch.

B avoids the body shot from Hillbilly.

B rushes Hillbilly and presses him up against the cage.

B throws an elbow but it's blocked.

B pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Hillbilly takes an elbow to the temple.
Hillbilly is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Henry Hillbilly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Hillbilly has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
