PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ari Gold (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Augustus Machiavelli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machiavelli has chosen August Burns Red - "11th Hour" as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Ari Gold has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Augustus Machiavelli!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gold lands a right hook to the body.

Machiavelli throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gold was covering up waiting for the punch and Machiavelli finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Gold is controlling Machiavelli's posture.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Machiavelli drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Machiavelli jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Machiavelli postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gold is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Machiavelli, into his guard.

Gold wants to get back to his feet.

Ari Gold dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gold throws a head kick but Machiavelli moves out of range.

Machiavelli dives in and grabs Gold's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gold pushes down on Machiavelli's head and hops out.
Ari Gold has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Augustus Machiavelli.
Machiavelli ducks right into an uppercut from Gold.

It looks like Augustus Machiavelli has been cut.
Machiavelli has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Gold finds it's way round the side to connect with Machiavelli's head.

A chopping leg kick lands by Gold.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gold goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Machiavelli is still on wobbly legs! Can Gold finish him?
Gold drops Machiavelli with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Machiavelli! Gold dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
