Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ned Flenders (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ned Flenders!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rick Martin!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Flenders as Martin shoots in.
Flenders gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Martin counters with a shoot takedown. Flenders fights it but they end up in guard.
Martin won't allow Flenders to get back to his feet.
Martin throws a big right hand that misses.
Flenders looking to control.

Flenders wants to stand and escape but Martin is having none of it.

Flenders pushes Martin off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Flenders gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Martin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Flenders thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Flenders is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Flenders changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Martin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Flenders has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

so Martin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Martin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Martin scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Flenders is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Martin is trying to get back to full guard.

Flenders passes to side control.
Flenders wants to stand but Martin is controlling his arm.
Flenders fails to land a wild elbow strike.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Martin is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Flenders's shoulder. That is not cool.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
You can see the frustration on Flenders's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Flenders tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Martin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Flenders is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Martin dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Flenders is looking to regain half guard here but Martin keeps moving and retains side control.

The fighters circle momentarily. Flenders darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Martin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Flenders tries to avoid it but Martin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Flenders to the ground. Flenders escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Flenders tries to close the distance and clinch but Martin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Martin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Flenders is trying to control the position but Martin postures up.

Martin is pushing down on Flenders's leg trying to pass to half guard. Flenders is fighting to maintain full guard but Martin has managed to sneak the leg through.
Martin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Flenders with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Martin working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Martin is pressing down on Flenders's thigh, looking to free his foot. Flenders is holding on for now.
Martin is keen to just control but Flenders is a slippery customer.
Flenders is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Martin scores with a couple of nice shots.

Flenders lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Martin!
Martin sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Flenders prevents Martin from improving his position.

Ned Flenders is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

and Martin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Flenders has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Martin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Flenders wants to stand up but Martin is controlling him.
Martin stands up over Flenders, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Martin passes Flenders's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Martin is looking for a kimura here.

Flenders is pushing Martin's head away, looking to escape. Martin manages to hold on to the position though.
Martin wants to control but Flenders is keeping him busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Martin cracks Flenders with a big right hand but Flenders just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Oh Flenders is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Martin lands a big shot there that rocks Flenders but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Martin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Flenders closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Martin to the mat! Martin manages to get full guard.
Flenders stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Martin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Martin throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Flenders lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Martin has his foot on Flenders's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Flenders works his way back into a safe position though.

Flenders stands and steps away. Martin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Martin lands a nice short elbow.

Flenders closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Flenders lands in his opponent's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Flenders decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ned Flenders.
I think Martin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
