Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mauro Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damien Fellows (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes comes into the arena with Buraka Som Sistema - Sound Of Kuduro blaring out of the sound system. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fellows feints and as Gomes raises his hands in defense, Fellows changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gomes wants to sweep here but Fellows controlling him for the moment.
Fellows is looking to work some ground and pound but Gomes has wrist control.
Fellows throwing strikes from guard but Gomes blocks nicely.
Fellows postures up in Gomes's guard and throws a big left but Gomes blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fellows is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gomes is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gomes has escaped and now he's on top!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fellows has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gomes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Gomes passes Fellows's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Fellows is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gomes's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gomes's back!

Fellows seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Gomes's chin but Gomes turns very nicely into Fellows's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Gomes.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Fellows escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Gomes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Gomes slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Gomes loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Fellows looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Gomes passes into half guard.
Gomes prevents Fellows from improving his position.
Gomes trying to control the action but Fellows is working from the bottom.
Gomes will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Fellows is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gomes misses with a hook.
Gomes throws a jab when Fellows was well out of range.
Fellows swings for the body but Gomes moves out of range.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Fellows blocks a jab.
Fellows fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Gomes bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Fellows's head backwards.

It looks like Damien Fellows has been cut.

Fellows scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Gomes has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fellows is working away from the top position though.
Fellows thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Gomes's head.
Gomes is controlling Fellows's trapped leg to prevent Fellows from advancing to side control.
Fellows throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Fellows is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Fellows thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Fellows lands strikes from half guard.
Fellows winds up and cracks Gomes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Gomes wants to get back to full guard.
Gomes trying to hold on to Fellows's head to control him but Fellows postures up.
Gomes wants to improve his position but Fellows is controlling well.

Fellows drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gomes looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gomes looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gomes!

Gomes tries to stand but Fellows is controlling his head.
Gomes has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Fellows!
Fellows is looking to get to half guard.
Gomes takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Fellows is working to get back to half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Fellows tries to lock up and control but Gomes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gomes prevents Fellows from getting the reversal.
Gomes tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Fellows tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fellows gets back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mauro Gomes will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Damien Fellows's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Gomes throws a jab when Fellows was well out of range.
Gomes stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Fellows throws a right hand that Gomes ducks under and follows up with a left that Gomes also avoids with ease.

and Fellows counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gomes's guard now.
Fellows stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gomes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Fellows postures up in Gomes's guard and throws a big left but Gomes blocks it.
Fellows in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Gomes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Fellows working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Gomes looking for a sweep. Not yet Gomes, not yet.
Fellows thows a big elbow that misses.
Fellows passes Gomes's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Gomes keeping control of the position.
Fellows looks to land a strike but Gomes avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Fellows has gone for a leg lock! Gomes slips out almost immediately though and dives into Fellows's guard.

Fellows is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Fellows tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Fellows keeping moving, preventing Gomes from controlling successfully.

Fellows is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gomes defends well.
Gomes wants to control from the top but Fellows keeps moving.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Fellows is looking to regain half guard here but Gomes keeps moving and retains side control.
Gomes tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Gomes stands up and beckons Fellows to his feet.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Mauro Gomes.
I think Gomes has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
