The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pierre closes the distance and clinches up with Holmes, looking for a takedown. Pierre pushes Holmes against the cage but Holmes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Holmes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pierre has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Holmes has managed to get both his arms back between Pierre's legs - danger averted.

Holmes lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Holmes doesn't have the hooks in and Pierre manages to turn into his guard.
