The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maunonen scores with a hook to the body. Karl takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Maunonen scores with a jab. Karl acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Maunonen scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Karl shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Maunonen as he avoids it easily.

Karl tries to clinch but Maunonen is having none of it.

Maunonen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Karl sprawls well initially but Maunonen persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Maunonen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Karl does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
