Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Steve Flach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Reggie Smith!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith is looking to clinch.
Flach stalks Smith and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smith's face. Smith staggers backwards, shaken.
Flach tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Smith swivels and escapes.
Nice takedown defense from Flach. No joy for Smith on that attempt.

Smith fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Flach sprawls well initially but Smith persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Smith is looking for a kimura but Flach is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Smith to get the leverage.

Flach wants to get back to full guard.

Flach knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.

Smith is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Flach is just riding it out for now. Smith eventually gives up the hold.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Flach pushes Smith off looking to stand but Smith dives back in and keeps control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Smith is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch.

Smith decides to pull guard.
Flach looking to sit in guard and control but Smith gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Smith passes Flach's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Smith is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Flach has managed to free his arm - good work.
Smith passes to full mount!

Smith looking for a guillotine from mount but Flach is having none of it.

Smith is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Flach to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Flach shrugs it off.

Smith is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Smith shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Flach is trying to control but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reggie Smith dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Flach rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Smith moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Flach doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Smith counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Smith passes to full mount!

Smith is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Flach has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Flach wants to control but Smith is having none of it.

Smith is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Flach is surviving well by controlling Smith's body position as best he can.
Flach tries to hold on but Smith postures up.

Smith has control of Flach's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Flach regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Flach keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Reggie Smith has got the better of the ground game so far.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Smith is breathing heavily.
Flach wants to control but Smith is having none of it.

Smith is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Flach can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Smith looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Flach wants to control but Smith is having none of it.
Flach is trying desperately to improve position.

Smith gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
Flach wants to clinch but Smith slips to the side

and Smith counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Smith.
Smith fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Flach gets underhooks to prevent Smith's takedown attempt.
Smith drops down looking for an ankle pick but Flach pulls his leg out and moves away.
Steve Flach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reggie Smith.
Nice takedown defense from Smith. No joy for Flach on that attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Reggie Smith showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Flach's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Smith shoots in for a takedown but Flach shows good takedown defense.
Smith throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Flach's waist but Flach gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smith off to one side.
Flach moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Flach changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Smith tries to avoid it but Flach manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Smith to the ground. Smith escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Flach sprawls well. Flach wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.
Steve Flach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Reggie Smith.

Smith gets control of Flach's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smith will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Flach postures up in Smith's guard and throws a big left but Smith blocks it.

Reggie Smith is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Flachis looking to pass into half guard but Smith pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Smith is in guard.

I've got Smith winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
