Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Sundin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Guti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jeff Sundin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dan Guti!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, John Mangel and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Guti misses with a takedown attempt - Sundin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Guti fails with a takedown attempt.
Guti slips a jab and a cross from Sundin.
Sundin tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Guti will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Jeff Sundin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dan Guti.

Guti drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Guti looks gassed!

Guti thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sundin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Sundin gets back to full guard.
Guti being controlled here momentarily.

Guti drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Guti jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Guti thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Sundin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Guti is controlling him.
Guti postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Sundin has his foot on Guti's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Guti works his way back into a safe position though.
Guti content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Guti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sundin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Guti is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Sundin is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Guti slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Guti is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Sundin has escaped the position, nice work there.
Guti tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Guti tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Guti has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Sundin is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Guti's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Sundin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Guti is looking to advance position but Sundin won't allow it.

Guti wants to work for an arm triangle but Sundin is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Guti is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Guti seems to be looking for submissions.
Sundin wants to control but Guti is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sundin closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Guti is looking to reverse the position.
Guti manages to work his way to half guard, despite Sundin's best efforts.
Sundin thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Guti has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Sundin escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Sundin!
Guti is trying to improve his position.
The ground and pound from Sundin seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Guti manages to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dan Guti dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Guti with a poor takedown

and Sundin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Guti's guard.

Guti looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Sundin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Guti is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Guti wants to control but Sundin is keeping him busy.

Guti is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sundin is just riding it out for now. Guti eventually gives up the hold.

Dan Guti has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Sundin flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Guti trying to pass the guard but Sundin defending well.

Guti working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Sundin's thigh. Sundin counters though and makes it back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sundin is trying to keep Guti in close.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Guti has his takedown stuffed

and Sundin counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sundin.

Sundin stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Sundin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Guti.
Sundin is looking to control Guti's arms but Guti gets an underhook and turns him. Now Sundin has his back to the cage.

Sundin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

so Sundin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Well, if Sundin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Guti is pressing down on Sundin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Sundin wants to control from the top but Guti keeps moving.
Guti is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Sundin decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Guti, up you get!

Guti shoots in and bounces Sundin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Guti passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Guti lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sundin!
Guti wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Guti goes for an armbar but Sundin turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sundin.
Sundin controlling from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Sundin tries to clinch there but Guti circles away.

Guti is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Sundin dives into side control.
Sundin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Guti keeps working.
Guti is looking for a sweep.
Guti gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Guti is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sundin's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sundin's back!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Guti has his arm under Sundin's chin here. Game over son! Guti squeezes tightly and Sundin is forced to tap out!
