Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paul Smart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Radar Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smart comes to the cage accompanied by Billy Talent - Red Flag. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paul Smart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Radar Black!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Smart looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Smart.
Smart creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Black sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Smart lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Black parries the strikes from Smart easily there. Smart is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Black to escape.
Black is trying to control Smart's posture but Smart avoids it.
Smart cracks Black with a big right hand but Black just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Black wants to control but Smart postures up.
Black defending against the ground and pound.
Smart has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Black is trying to work for a sweep but Smart has mounted him!
Black is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Smart lands a nice shot to the head.
Smart wants to control the pace but Black is squirming around nicely.

Black can't escape the position.
Smart looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Smart tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smart postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Black looks a forlorn figure.
Smart lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Black hang on?

Smart lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Black gets back to half guard.

Smart working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Black moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smart postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Black can do anything to dispel that myth.
Smart pushing down on Black's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Smart not doing much here.
Smart has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Smart scoring with strikes but Black is staying in there.

Black really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smart. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

and Smart counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Black closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Smart to the mat! Smart manages to get full guard.
Black throws and elbow that misses. Smart uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Black's guard. Nice move by Smart!
Black wants to sweep but no luck.
Smart landing some decent shots from guard.
Black scores with a short punch from the bottom.
Smart pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Black is keeping the position for now.

Smart pushes down on Black's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Smart decides to stand up.

and Smart counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Smart counters with a three punch combo that has Black backing up. Black nods at Smart to acknowledge the strikes.

Smart thows a huge punch but Black dodges it nicely.
Black is trying to get back to full guard.
Black keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Smart wants to stand but his hand is trapped. Black uses the opportunity to regain full guard.
Smart trying to stand up but can't free himself from Black's guard.

Smart trying to control the position from guard on top but Black is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Smart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Black swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Well Smart has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
