PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Don Chakka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Edmund Kaufmann (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Don Chakka has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Chakka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edmund Kaufmann!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kaufmann looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Chakka utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Kaufmann working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Chakka throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Kaufmann has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Chakka is looking to regain half guard here but Kaufmann keeps moving and retains side control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Chakka tries to close the distance and clinch but Kaufmann swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kaufmann controls Chakka momentarily but Chakka frees himself.

Kaufmann had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Chakka defends it easily.

Chakka parries the strikes from Kaufmann easily there. Kaufmann is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Chakka to escape.
Chakka takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Kaufmann tries to score with some ground and pound. Chakka controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Chakka dodges the ground and pound from Kaufmann.
Kaufmann misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kaufmann is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Kaufmann in particular looking to stall.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Kaufmann is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Don Chakka has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Edmund Kaufmann.

Chakka gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kaufmann decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Chakka's guard.
Kaufmann with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Kaufmann is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Chakka is just riding it out for now. Kaufmann eventually gives up the hold.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kaufmann has closed the distance and engaged Chakka in a clinch.
Chakka prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kaufmann blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
