PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cloud Strife (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Girevoy Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Girevoy Khan told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Strife looks for a takedown but Khan sprawls well.
Khan throws a jab when Strife was well out of range.
Khan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Strife ducks under a wild hook from Khan.
Khan just misses with a punch to the body.
Strife shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Khan as he avoids it easily.
Strife bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Khan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Strife manages to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Strife shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Khan's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Khan misses with a wild body shot.
Strife throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Khan's waist but Khan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Strife off to one side.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Strife bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Khan throws a body punch but Strife moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Khan. No joy for Strife on that attempt.

Strife looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Khan is fending him off so far but Strife persists. Nope, Khan circles away and we're back to standing.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Khan can do anything to dispel that myth.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Strife is looking to advance position but Khan won't allow it.

Horrible takedown by Strife or perhaps it was just good defense by Khan which made him look bad.

Strife has gone for a leg lock! Khan slips out almost immediately though and dives into Strife's guard.
Strife has a closed guard, preventing Khan from standing up.
Khan looking to sit in guard and control but Strife gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Khan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Khan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Strife controls the pace.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Strife passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Strife throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Strife in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Khan is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
