The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Coolidge decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Coolidge keeps control of the position easily here as Soderstrom tries to buck him off.

Well, with Coolidge on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Soderstrom is tapping out... Can he escape the position?

Despite being in the dominant position, PT Coolidge just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Coolidge dives in and grabs Soderstrom's left leg, looking for a takedown. Soderstrom pushes down on Coolidge's head and hops out.

Coolidge feints and as Soderstrom raises his hands in defense, Coolidge changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Coolidge won't allow Soderstrom to sweep him here.
Coolidge stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Soderstrom swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Soderstrom is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Coolidge is controlling him.

Soderstrom controls Coolidge momentarily but Coolidge frees himself.
Soderstrom knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Coolidge on the ground.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Coolidge.
Coolidge uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Soderstrom.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
