Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lyota Machida (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janis Petke (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Petke has Machida up against the cage in a clinch.

Petke breaks from the clinch.
Petke shoots for a takedown but Machida saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Machida throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Petke shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machida as he avoids it easily.
Petke tries to bum rush Machida with a series of wild strikes but Machida uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Petke is looking to score with low kicks.
Machida throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
No joy there for Petke, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice takedown defense from Petke. No joy for Machida on that attempt.

Machida closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Petke to the mat! Petke manages to get full guard.
Petke is trying to control the position but Machida postures up.

Machida is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Machida has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Petke is proving hard to escape from.

Machidais looking to pass into half guard but Petke pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Petke is in guard.

Machida is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Machida had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Petke is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Machida Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Petke's back instead.
Machida is breathing heavily.
Machida controlling well, preventing Petke from escaping the position.
Petke just trying to survive but Machida is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Machida is trying to stick to Petke's back but Petke is turning into Machida. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Machida's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Petke.
Petke trying to control the position from guard on top but Machida is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Petke is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Petke gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Petke darts in and clinches Machida up against the cage.

Petke breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Petke looks to throw a body kick

and Machida counters with a single leg into guard. Petke didn't expect that.

Machida drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Petke dives on top into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Machida escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Petke gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Machida manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Petke manages to get himself to full guard.

Machida drops back looking for a leg! Petke is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Petke manages to kick Machida off! Machida jumps back into Petke's guard.

Petke bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Machida's guard.

Machida has his feet on Petke's thighs here. He's pushed Petke off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Petke screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
