PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fred Hanks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hanks is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marcus Foster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Fred Hanks!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Dean Styles and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hanks misses with a head kick.
Hanks throws a body punch but Foster moves out of range.
Foster throws a big shot that misses.
Foster has a takedown stuffed.
Foster blocks a jab.
Hanks is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Foster loads up on a big right hand but Hanks slips the punch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hanks. Foster does a little dance to reset his feet.
Foster throws a series of strikes that have Hanks backpedaling.


It looks like Fred Hanks has been cut.
Hanks throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Foster punishes Hanks's body with a nice straight punch.
Foster wants to clinch.
Hanks misses with a shot to the body
and Foster cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A combination from Hanks does no damage.
Foster blocks a jab.

Foster moves out of range as Hanks strikes.
Foster changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hanks tries to avoid it but Foster manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hanks to the ground. Hanks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Foster pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hanks gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Foster.

Foster drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hanks wants to control but Foster postures up.
Hanks takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Foster sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hanks is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Foster will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hanks is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Foster has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Foster works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hanks can do anything to dispel that myth.

Foster has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hanks pushes Foster away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Foster gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Foster throws an elbow but Hanks slips to the side and avoids it well.
Hanks wants to control but Foster postures up.

Foster goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hanks rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Foster's guard! Nice work there by Hanks!
Hanks wants to get up but he can't break Foster's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Hanks wants to control from the top but Foster keeps moving.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Foster throws a right hand that Hanks ducks under and follows up with a left that Hanks also avoids with ease.

Foster feints and as Hanks raises his hands in defense, Foster changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Foster is stalling in the full guard.
Hanks wants to stand up but Foster is controlling him.

Foster controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Foster prevents Hanks from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcus Foster dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Fred Hanks's cut.
That's time! Foster's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hanks dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Foster looks for a takedown but Hanks sprawls well.
Hanks fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Foster manages to avoid it.
Hanks takes a swing at Foster's ribcage but misses.

and Foster counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Foster looks to score with a jab to the body but Hanks is just out of range.
Hanks throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Foster misses with a hook to the body
and Hanks connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Foster blocks a jab.
Hanks lands a right hook to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hanks takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Foster swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Hanks connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Foster momentarily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fred Hanks seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Hanks counters with a crisp right hand that drops Foster! Hanks lets Foster back up to his feet, looking for a finish!


Foster is rocked!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marcus Foster. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hanks ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Foster's jaw. Foster's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Hanks does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Fred Hanks!
