PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksander Demetrikov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Kreutzberg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kreutzberg is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Engel" by Rammstein. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksander Demetrikov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mario Kreutzberg!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Illya Tyunina and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Demetrikov. Kreutzberg does a little dance to reset his feet.

Demetrikov has closed the distance and engaged Kreutzberg in a clinch.
Demetrikov takes an elbow to the temple.
Kreutzberg creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Kreutzberg stalls.
Kreutzberg receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
Demetrikov is trying to break the clinch but Kreutzberg has him pressed against the cage.
Kreutzberg jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Demetrikov walks away with a smile on his face. Kreutzberg gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Demetrikov sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Demetrikov moves in looking to clinch but Kreutzberg pushes him off.
Kreutzberg goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Demetrikov fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kreutzberg is out of range.
Kreutzberg looks to score with a jab to the body but Demetrikov is just out of range.

Kreutzberg drives through and clinches with Demetrikov against the cage.
Kreutzberg tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Demetrikov smiles and moves away.

Demetrikov has picked Kreutzberg up - he's going for a ride! Demetrikov dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Kreutzberg tries to lock up and control but Demetrikov gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Demetrikov has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Kreutzberg's face.

Demetrikov decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Kreutzberg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Demetrikov. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Demetrikov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kreutzberg has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Aleksander Demetrikov will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kreutzberg misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Demetrikov tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kreutzberg sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Demetrikov somewhat.
Demetrikov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Kreutzberg thuds his right hand into Demetrikov's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
Kreutzberg shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Demetrikov sprawls well. Demetrikov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Kreutzberg gets slowly back to his feet.

Kreutzberg pushes Demetrikov off looking to stand but Demetrikov dives back in and keeps control.
Kreutzberg has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Demetrikov is working away from the top position though.

Demetrikov seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Demetrikov decides to stand up.

Kreutzberg gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Demetrikov to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Demetrikov seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Demetrikov is taking a breather. Kreutzberg says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kreutzberg wants to control but Demetrikov is keeping busy and won't allow it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Demetrikov seems to be working for a kimura but Kreutzberg defends the submission attempt.
Kreutzberg is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Demetrikov looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Demetrikov has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Demetrikov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
