PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Quentin Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gregores Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Jackson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Swizz Beatz "It's Me snitches". Gregores Mendez is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Quentin Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gregores Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jackson lands a left and a right that send Mendez crashing to the mat, dazed. Jackson thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


It looks like Gregores Mendez has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mendez moves away.

and Mendez decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jackson's guard.

Jackson gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mendez to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Jackson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mendez on the ground.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Mendez is trying to control the action in half guard but Jackson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Mendez shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Jackson cracks Mendez with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Jackson has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Mendez to stand back up!

Jackson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mendez moves away.
Mendez with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Jackson to score with a decent uppercut.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mendez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Mendez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Jackson napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Mendez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jackson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
