PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Stacey Malouf (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seppo Soturi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soturi has chosen Insomnium - Down With the Sun as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Soturi looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Soturi gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Soturi tries to clinch but Malouf is having none of it.

Soturi gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Soturi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Soturi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Soturi wants to get back to his feet.

Malouf is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Soturi pulls his head out easily.
Soturi wants to take a breather but Malouf is having none of it.

Soturi stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.

Soturi clinches.
Soturi is pressed up against the cage. Malouf has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Soturi down to the mat. Soturi avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Soturi shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Malouf is trying to defend but Soturi finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Malouf wants to control but Soturi is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Soturi connects with a couple of short punches.

Soturi with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Soturi has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Soturi comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Soturi creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Malouf's defenses.

Soturi gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.

Oh Malouf is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Soturi postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Malouf covers up, he's hurt! Soturi keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Soturi and the ref steps in to end the fight! Soturi can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
