Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Forrest Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Griffin has closed the distance and engaged Doe in a clinch.
Doe looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Griffin tries to close the distance and clinch but Doe swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Griffin tries to clinch up but Doe circles away and keeps his distance.

Griffin is pressed up against the cage. Doe has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Griffin down to the mat. Griffin avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Doe throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Griffin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Griffin is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Griffin stays in close to Doe's body and controls the position.
Doe preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Griffin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Griffin wants to stand but Doe has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Griffin distracts Doe with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Griffin pushes down on Doe's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Griffin decides to stand up.
Griffin wants to clinch but Doe slips to the side

and Doe counters by moving into the clinch.
Griffin is working for takedown but Doe is calmly controlling the position for now.

Griffin misses with a takedown attempt

and Doe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Griffin!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doe tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Griffin is looking to improve his position but Doe isn't that keen on the idea.

Griffin wants to control but Doe is having none of it.
Griffin throwing hammer fists to the chest of Doe. What's that going to do exactly?
Griffin tries to hold on but Doe postures up.
Griffin is trying to stand but he's just given Doe his back.
Doe keeps control of the position as Griffin tries to break free.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Griffin drives through and clinches with Doe against the cage.
The is referee keeping an eye on Griffin - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

and Doe counters with a nice double leg into side control. Griffin won't be happy with that.
Griffin is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Griffin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

John Doe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
