Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jermaine Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Squire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anthony Squire has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jermaine Brown!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Anthony Squire!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Squire swings for the body but Brown moves out of range.
Brown avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Brown takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Squire tries to bum rush Brown with a series of wild strikes but Brown uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Brown closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Brown thows a huge punch but Squire dodges it nicely.
Brown with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Squire is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Brown has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Brown is looking for a kimura but Squire is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Brown to get the leverage.

Brown decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Brown shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Brown is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Squire can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Brown wants to control the pace but Squire is squirming around nicely.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brown swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Squire is now in Brown's guard. A big mistake from Brown there, giving up the dominant position!

Brown escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Squire gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brown is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Brown thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Brown wants to get back to his feet but Squire passes into half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Squire fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Squire tries to clinch up but Brown circles away and keeps his distance.
Brown takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Anthony Squire seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Brown looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Squire is staying active underneath Brown, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Brown seems to be looking for submissions.

Brown is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Squire has managed to free his arm - good work.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Squire is defending against the submission attempts here by Brown.

Brown is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Squire doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Brown.

Brown feints and as Squire raises his hands in defense, Brown changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Brown has gone for a leg lock! Squire slips out almost immediately though and dives into Brown's guard.
Brown manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Squire is squirming around, avoiding Brown's attempts to control the action.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Squire is desperately trying to improve his position but Brown has a good base and remains in mount.

Brown swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Squire is now in Brown's guard. A big mistake from Brown there, giving up the dominant position!

Squire must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Brown has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Squire is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Brown.

You can see the frustration on Brown's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

That was a close second round but I would say that Jermaine Brown will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Squire is looking to control Brown's arms but Brown gets an underhook and turns him. Now Squire has his back to the cage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.

Squire really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brown. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Brown wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Squire, who protects the arm well.

Brown is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Squire has escaped the position, nice work there.

Brown is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Squire is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Brown stands up.
Squire will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Brown counters with a single leg into guard. Squire didn't expect that.

Brown has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Squire uses from the top position.
