PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pain Killer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Batton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Batton comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Boga Boga kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pain Killer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Batton!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Eliza Hachem and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Killer.
Batton tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Killer paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Batton cracks a nice hook into Killer's ribs.
Killer swats away the attempt to clinch by Batton.
Batton tries to close the distance and clinch up but Killer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Killer gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Batton.
Batton throws a push kick but Killer slaps the foot to one side.
Batton fails with an attempt to clinch.
Killer shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Killer is breathing heavily.
Batton tries to clinch there but Killer circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A left and a right from Batton both land. Nice combination.


It looks like Pain Killer has been cut.
Batton scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Batton looks to score with a jab to the body but Killer is just out of range.
Killer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Batton throws a series of punches but Killer moves out of range.
Batton wants to clinch up but Killer keeps it at a distance.
Pain Killer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Killer keeps the fight on the outside.
Batton uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Killer has time to react.

Batton shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Batton showed some decent athleticism there.
Killer trying to get back to full guard but Batton takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Batton takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Killer is in a horrible position here. Batton smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Batton connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Batton is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Killer can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Killer crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Batton - the referee stops the clock and Killer gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Batton. Killer manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Batton tries to clinch up but Killer circles away and keeps his distance.
Pain Killer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Killer checks the leg kick nicely there.
Batton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Batton digs a good hook to Killer's body.

Batton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Killer sprawls well initially but Batton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Killer is staying active underneath Batton, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Killer has a hand on Batton's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Batton takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Batton won't let Killer get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee warns Killer that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Batton has control of Killer's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Killer regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Killer is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jack Batton comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Batton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
