Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Taka Masahuku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Bieksa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Masahuku's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Saltarello by Dead Can Dance. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Taka Masahuku!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kevin Bieksa!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bieksa tries to clinch but Masahuku is having none of it.
Bieksa tries to clinch but Masahuku moves out of range.
Bieksa keeps the fight on the outside.
Bieksa darts in trying to clinch

and Masahuku counters by clinching up.
A short body shot lands from Bieksa as the two fighters clinch.
Bieksa lands a shot to the body.
Bieksa lands a hook to the side of the head.
A right hook to the body lands for Bieksa.

Bieksa breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

and Masahuku counters with a nice double leg into side control. Bieksa won't be happy with that.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Masahuku tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Masahuku has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bieksa struggling a bit here.

Bieksa is looking to regain half guard here but Masahuku keeps moving and retains side control.

Masahuku looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Bieksa manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Masahuku is looking for a kimura but Bieksa is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Masahuku to get the leverage.

Masahuku is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Masahuku is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bieksa sees it coming and defends easily.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Masahuku is working for a submission of some sort.

Masahuku wants to work for an arm triangle but Bieksa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Masahuku is breathing heavily.
Masahuku is looking to take a break and control but Bieksa is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bieksa is pressing down on Masahuku's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Masahuku might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Masahuku passes Bieksa's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bieksa trying to hold on to Masahuku's head to control him but Masahuku postures up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bieksa is trying to stand.

Masahuku is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bieksa!
Bieksa stops Masahuku from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Masahuku is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bieksa has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bieksa!

Masahuku looking for a guillotine here but Bieksa defends easily.

Masahuku preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Bieksa stands and steps away. Masahuku gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kevin Bieksa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bieksa clinches but Masahuku breaks the clinch

and Masahuku counters with a shoot takedown. Bieksa fights it but they end up in guard.
Masahuku slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Masahuku tries to advance to mount but can't.

Masahuku goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bieksa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Masahuku's guard! Nice work there by Bieksa!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Masahuku tries to land a sweep but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Taka Masahuku will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Bieksa tries to clinch

and Masahuku counters with a takedown into side control.

Masahuku goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Bieksa rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Masahuku's guard! Nice work there by Bieksa!
Bieksa is looking to stand up but Masahuku won't let him.

Masahuku is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bieksa defends well.

Bieksa got a little sloppy there for a moment and Masahuku has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bieksa has managed to get both his arms back between Masahuku's legs - danger averted.

Bieksa postures up in Masahuku's guard and throws a big left but Masahuku blocks it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Bieksa throws a right and a left that Masahuku avoids nicely.
Masahuku wants to clinch up but Bieksa keeps it at a distance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Bieksa tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Masahuku counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Bieksa pushes Masahuku off and gets back to his feet.
Masahuku wants to clinch
and Bieksa counters with a two punch combo.
Bieksa falls off balance throwing a combination

so Masahuku counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Masahuku works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Masahuku wants to work for an arm triangle but Bieksa is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Masahuku is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Masahuku can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bieksa is looking to escape.

Masahuku moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Bieksa has worked his arm free - good work by Bieksa!

Masahuku tries for a kimura but Bieksa is defending well.

Masahuku had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Bieksa defends it easily.
Taka Masahuku overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Masahuku has a closed guard, preventing Bieksa from standing up.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Masahuku is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Bieksa is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Masahuku tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Masahuku thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Masahuku has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Bieksa is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Masahuku yanks on the arm and Bieksa is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Masahuku.
