PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Something Other (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamie Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franklin is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Under the Knife - Rise Against. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Other cracks Franklin with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Other takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Franklin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Other was well out of range. Poor timing from Franklin.

Franklin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Something Other seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Other is breathing heavily.
Other throws a series of punches but Franklin moves out of range.
Other stuffs the takedown.
Something Other has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jamie Franklin.
Franklin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Other.
Franklin will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

and Franklin counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Franklin is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Franklin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Franklin is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Other doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Franklin.
Other tries to roll over but Franklin keeps him under control.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Other is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Franklin is taking a breather. Other says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Franklin is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Other sees it coming and defends easily.

Franklin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Other with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Franklin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Other is just riding it out for now. Franklin eventually gives up the hold.
