PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luke Bacard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and mr tapout (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luke Bacard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, mr tapout!
The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Bacard misses.
Bacard swinging wildly here.
Bacard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but tapout circles away quickly and effectively.
Bacard misses with the combination.
Bacard tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
tapout avoids a punch combination nicely.
Bacard tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from tapout is defended easily by Bacard.
Bacard tries to clinch but tapout moves out of range.

Bacard moves in looking to clinch but tapout pushes him off.

tapout is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bacard's half guard.
tapout thows a huge punch but Bacard dodges it nicely.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Bacard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

tapout looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
tapout has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
tapout wants to pass to mount but Bacard is defending the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

tapout is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bacard defends it well.
tapout stops Bacard from getting back to his feet.
tapout trying to mount his opponent but Bacard defends it.
tapout uses his free foot to push down on Bacard's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Bacard.

Bacard wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by tapout.
tapout misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
tapout connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
tapout throwing strikes here but Bacard is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
tapout won't let Bacard get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

tapout jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Bacard is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Bacard and tapout has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
tapout trying to control the action but Bacard is working from the bottom.
Bacard is trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

tapout tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
tapout wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bacard keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

mr tapout dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


No joy there for Bacard, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Bacard throws an overhand right that lands on tapout's shoulder, as tapout tries to avoid the shot.
Bacard misses with a few strikes there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Bacard looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Bacard throws a right and a left that both miss.
tapout fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bacard doesn't manage to clinch there - tapout circles away.
Bacard will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bacard misses with a hook. tapout ducked under it nicely.

tapout fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bacard sprawls well initially but tapout persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

tapout is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
tapout missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Bacard tries to kick tapout off but tapout keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
tapout seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Bacard does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

tapout tries to pass to full mount but Bacard defends it.
Bacard wants to stand back up but tapout manages to pass into side control.
tapout advances to mount.
tapout putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound!
tapout looking to control but Bacard is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bacard trying desperately to get to his feet.
tapout is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Bacard is in real trouble.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Bacard is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
tapout punches the canvas rather than the man.

tapout seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Bacard's chin but Bacard turns very nicely into tapout's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Bacard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

tapout looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Bacard is defending well. tapout quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Bacard has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! tapout celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
