PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jean Sebastien Blais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roy Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blais comes into the arena with Metallica - One blaring out of the sound system. Hunter is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The Used - The Taste Of Ink. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Jean Sebastien Blais!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Roy Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter swats away the attempt to clinch by Blais.
Blais doesn't manage to clinch there - Hunter circles away.
Blais fails to land with a series of punches.
Hunter keeps the fight on the outside.
Hunter tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Blais paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Blais wants to clinch but Hunter slips to the side

and Hunter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Blais!

Hunter is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Blais is surviving well by controlling Hunter's body position as best he can.

Blais defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hunter.

Hunter looking for a guillotine from mount but Blais is having none of it.
Hunter avoids the attempt from Blais to control.
Hunter throws some wild stikes that Blais manages to avoid easily.

Hunter is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Blais to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Blais shrugs it off.

Hunter looking for a guillotine from mount but Blais is having none of it.
Hunter looks gassed!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Blais keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hunter avoids the attempt from Blais to control.
Hunter unloads with some shots from mount but Blais bucks and avoids them well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blais wants to hold on but Hunter pushes him away.
Blais is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hunter is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hunter prevents Blais from getting the reversal.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Blais tries to lock up and control but Hunter gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Jean Sebastien Blais just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Blais looks to clinch
and Blais takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Blais forces Hunter back against the cage and clinches.
Hunter wants a takedown.
Blais tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Blais gets control of Hunter's arms and successfully pulls guard. Blais will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Hunter works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Blais is looking for a sweep. Hunter is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hunter is thwarting Blais's attempts to control the position.

Hunter is working for a kimura but Blais is defending it quite comfortably.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hunter is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hunter not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Blais has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Hunter. Oh but Blais has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Hunter goes limp - he's gone! Blais jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jean Sebastien Blais!
