Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tetsuzan Yamashi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jay Yap (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yap has chosen Tubthumping as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tetsuzan Yamashi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jay Yap!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamashi avoids a kick to the body.
Yap misses with a two punch combination.

Yamashi fails with the takedown.
Yap stuffs the takedown attempt from Yamashi. Yamashi gets slowly back to his feet.
Yap misses with a wild combination.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Yamashi drives through with a takedown into guard.
Yap is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Yamashi trying to move into half guard but instead Yap has managed to sweep!
Yamashi wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Yap is trying to control the position but Yamashi postures up.
Yamashi wants to control from the top but Yap keeps moving.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Yap gets caught flat footed, as Yamashi shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Yap really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Yamashi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Yap pulls Yamashi in close to his closed guard and prevents Yamashi from doing any damage or advancing position.

Yamashi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Yap tries to bum rush Yamashi with a series of wild strikes but Yamashi uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Yamashi lands with a kick to the ribs.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Yap scores with a one two! Yamashi had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Yap slaps away a takedown attempt from Yamashi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Yap fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Yamashi manages to avoid it.
Yamashi shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Yap throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Yamashi fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tetsuzan Yamashi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Yap connects with a jab.
Yap dips to his left and cracks Yamashi with an uppercut!
Yap misses with a leg kick.
Yamashi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Yap sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Yamashi somewhat.
Yamashi moves out of range of the body kick.

Yamashi checks the leg kick.

Yamashi shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Yamashi was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Yamashi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Yap can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Yamashi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Yap bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Yap tries to free his leg and advance position but Yamashi is retaining full guard.
Yap missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Yap looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Yamashi utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Yamashi is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Yap is trying to stand up here but Yamashi is controlling him well.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Yamashi is working for a submission of some sort.
Yap wants to improve his position but Yamashi is controlling well.

Yamashi in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Yap tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Yamashi!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Tetsuzan Yamashi!
