PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hector Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kin Jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz's entrance music is Foo Fighters - My Hero. A fine choice. On his way into the cage it seems that Hector Diaz has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Hector Diaz seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Hector Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kin Jr!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diaz scores with a jab to the body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Diaz.

Diaz gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Jr keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Diaz's efforts to push away.
Diaz is trying to break the clinch but Jr is controlling him.

Diaz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jr shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Diaz sprawls well. Diaz wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Jr gets slowly back to his feet.
Jr throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Diaz fails to land with a series of punches.
Jr fails to land the takedown.

Diaz clinches up against the cage.
Jr wants a takedown but no success here.
Hector Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kin Jr.
Diaz has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Diaz breaks from the clinch.
Jr shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diaz pinned against the cage. Diaz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Horrible takedown by Jr or perhaps it was just good defense by Diaz which made him look bad.

and Diaz counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Diaz digs a good body shot into Jr's ribs.

Diaz lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Kin Jr has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Diaz looks to score with a jab to the body but Jr is just out of range.

Jr shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

and Diaz counters with a left and a right that stings Jr.
Jr throws a head kick that misses.
Diaz misses with the combination.

Jr slips a jab and a cross from Diaz.
Jr takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Jr showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Diaz.
Diaz is looking to wear down Jr with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Jr clinches with his opponent.

Jr pulls Diaz into guard.
Diaz postures up.
Jr has his hands on Diaz's head, controlling the position.
Jr has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Diaz has passed into side control.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Diaz wants to stand but Jr is controlling his arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz stuns Jr with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Diaz avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Hector Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diaz ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Jr moves away.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jr has hold of one of Diaz's legs. Diaz is fighting the takedown attempt but Jr gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Diaz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Diaz wants to stand up but Jr is controlling him.
Jr forces his way into half guard.

Jr looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jr content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Jr stands up and beckons Diaz to join him on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Kin Jr's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Jr gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Diaz to counter with a crisp jab.
Jr fails with a takedown attempt.
Jr tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Diaz counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Diaz fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jr manages to avoid it.
Diaz wants to clinch but Jr slips to the side

and Jr counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Diaz wriggles free and stands up.
Jr punishes Diaz's body with a nice straight punch.
Jr throws a wild body kick that Diaz sees coming a mile off.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
A head kick misses from Jr.

Jr forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches.

Jr throws a knee to the head but misses.

Diaz breaks the clinch.
Jr misses with a takedown attempt
and Diaz counters with a straight right hand.
Hector Diaz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kin Jr.
Jr shoots in for a double leg but Diaz sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jr fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jr shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Jr was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Jr stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.

Jr decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jr is trying to control. Diaz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Jr is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Jr throws a strike but Diaz avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Jr slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Jr won't allow Diaz to get back to his feet.
Jr throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Jr lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Jr is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jr sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Diaz's guard.
Jr content to control rather than advance.
Jr moves into full mount! Diaz won't be happy about that!

Jr looking to control but Diaz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jr controlling his opponent.
Kin Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Hector Diaz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Jr with a couple of short strikes.

Kin Jr comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
