Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ted Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ted Grant is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ted Grant!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hunter moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Hunter could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hunter avoids the body shot from Grant.

Hunter looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Grant moves into full guard.
Grant trying to control the position.
Hunter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Grant trying to keep a closed guard but Hunter is proving a slippery customer.

Hunter is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Grant is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Grant has escaped and now he's on top!

Hunter looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Grant passes into side control.

Grant takes a little break here. Hunter wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Hunter throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.
Hunter looking for a sweep but Grant has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Grant sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Hunter is desperately trying to improve his position but Grant has a good base and remains in mount.
Grant scores with a couple of good head shots there.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hunter tries to improve his position but instead Grant has taken his back!
Hunter is in bad spot here.
Hunter staying busy and making it hard for Grant to control.
Grant is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Hunter. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Grant lands with a nice looking elbow that stuns Hunter.
Grant has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hunter trying to control the position but Grant manages to sink in the hooks.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hunter tries to break free.
Grant cracks Hunter with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Hunter from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Grant controls the action.
Hunter is keeping busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hunter wants to get back to his feet.
Hunter breaks Grant's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Hunter stopping the sweep attempt from Grant.
Grant throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Hunter won't allow Grant to sweep him here.

Hunter drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Grant dives on top into guard.
Hunter is breathing heavily.
Hunter will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hunter looking to control.
Grant trying to control the position from guard on top but Hunter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Grant forces his way into half guard.
Hunter tries to roll over but Grant keeps him under control.
Hunter keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Hunter is in trouble now - Grant has advanced to mount!
Hunter wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Hunter rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Hunter taking some punishment here, with Grant in his half guard.

Grant is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hunter doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Grant.
Hunter lands with a few short shots to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ted Grant dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Grant throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Jimmy Hunter is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hunter throws a head kick that misses.
Hunter misses with a looping left.
Hunter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Grant.
Grant has a takedown stuffed.
Hunter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Grant counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hunter!
Grant connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Grant looking to control but Hunter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Grant pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Grant cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!


Hunter is rocked!
Grant with the ground and pound from mount.
Oh Hunter is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Grant controlling from the full mount.
Hunter seems to have got his legs back now.
Grant landing shots from mount.

Grant looking to control but Hunter is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hunter taking shots to the head.
Grant manages to capitalize on a mistake by Hunter to take his back!

Grant is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Grant is breathing heavily.
A lull in the action here.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Grant controlling the positon.
Hunter tries to break free.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Grant is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Grant doesn't have the hooks in and Hunter manages to turn into his guard.
Grant wants to stand up but Hunter is controlling him.
Hunter wants to control from the top but Grant keeps moving.

Grant wriggles free and stands up.
Grant closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hunter circles away.
Grant avoids the head kick by Hunter.
Hunter throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hunter lands with a thumping leg kick.

Grant shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Grant was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunter can't escape the position.
Grant looking to control and managing it successfully.
Hunter is squirming around, avoiding Grant's attempts to control the action.

Grant looking to secure an arm triangle but Hunter defends it well.
Grant breaks from Hunter's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Grant quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Grant but it's paid off an Hunter is forced to tap! Nice work by Grant.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ted Grant!
