Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Farias tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Farias looks to land a combination but Alves avoids it well.
Farias keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Farias misses with a head kick.
Horrible takedown by Alves or perhaps it was just good defense by Farias which made him look bad.
Alves avoids the head kick by Farias.
A combination from Farias does no damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Farias throws and low kick but Alves moves out of range easily.
Farias misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Alves avoids a punch combination nicely.
Farias finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Alves defending well as Farias loads up on a big left hand.
Alves shoots in looking for a takedown. Farias tries to sprawl out of it but Alves keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Farias manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Rogerio Farias has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Junior Alves.

Alves avoids the head kick by Farias.

and Alves counters with a big head kick but Farias shrugs it off.
Alves will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Farias misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Alves tries for a takedown but Farias sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rogerio Farias is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Alves counters with a head kick. That will keep Farias thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Alves drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Farias dives on top into guard.
