PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dick Diablo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and A W Rootbeer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diablo comes to the cage accompanied by Motley Crue - Shout At The Devil. Rootbeer has chosen Amburgers and Wootbeer as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dick Diablo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, A W Rootbeer!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Skip Squint and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diablo misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rootbeer.
A punch lands to the side of Rootbeer 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Diablo fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Rootbeer manages to avoid it.
Rootbeer slips a jab and a cross from Diablo.

Rootbeer moves into the clinch successfully.

Diablo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Diablo connects with a good right hand that stumbles Rootbeer. Rootbeer circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Diablo looks to score with a jab to the body but Rootbeer is just out of range.
Diablo takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Rootbeer closes the distance and pushes Diablo back into the cage.
Diablo is trying to break the clinch but Rootbeer has him pressed against the cage.
Rootbeer tries to stall but Diablo uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Rootbeer has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Diablo uses from the top position.

Rootbeer is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Diablo defends well.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rootbeer striking off his back but it's not causing Diablo any problems.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Rootbeer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diablo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Diablo postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Rootbeer throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Diablo throws and elbow that misses. Rootbeer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Diablo's guard. Nice move by Rootbeer!
Diablo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rootbeer controls the pace.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Diablo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rootbeer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rootbeer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Diablo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rootbeer is controlling him.

Rootbeer is pushing down on Diablo's leg trying to pass to half guard. Diablo is fighting to maintain full guard but Rootbeer has managed to sneak the leg through.
Diablo moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Rootbeer is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Diablo is looking to stand up but Rootbeer isn't so interested in that idea.
Diablo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rootbeer drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Diablo manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rootbeer has Diablo in his guard.

Rootbeer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diablo can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rootbeer has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Diablo is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Rootbeer.

Diablo has an Americana. Rootbeer didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Diablo is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Diablo hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
